I’ve been here as long as we have been open and hope to be here longer. I get to work closely with our students watching them grow and become successful in their education and their lives. I have been living in Sacramento since 1997. Teaching at SAVA is a fulfilling career experience as it enables me to grow and get to know my students both at an intellectual and personal level. I feel I learn much from my students as much as they do from me.

About Me: I taught science for 9 years before finding SAVA. Now I get to spend one on one time building relationships with students. I love coaching students to success outside of just one subject. SAVA’s unique approach provides me with the opportunity to enrich student’s lives with field trips like mountain biking, kayaking, disk golfing, rock climbing, hiking and camping.

Interests: I enjoy walking and biking around my neighborhood and eating out with friends. I also like to get away to the Sierras for hiking and backpacking. When I can, I travel and practice my Spanish and French.

I have previously taught Literacy, Social Studies, Earth Sciences, and Natural History. Interests: I love the water. Swimming, kayaking, rafting. My favorite place is the American River where I can be found surfing giant waves in my kayak. However, my absolute favorite activity is walking because almost anyone can do it.

About Me: Before working at SAVA, I have worked in numerous different positions in the field of education such as: After School Director, Special Education Tutor, Graduate Teacher Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant, Assistant Director of a Day Camp and also taught at middle and high school World and United States History. I have been working at SAVA since the August 2013. During my years at SAVA I have held numerous positions: Teacher, Social Science Specialist, and currently I am the Enrollment Specialist. I was SAVA Assistant Basketball Coach for two years before becoming the Head Coach of the team. I grew up in Salinas, California. When I turned 5, I was diagnosed with a severe hearing loss that leads me to wear hearing aids. I am not the only one with hearing loss in my family; I also have a brother who is deaf.

Interests: In my free time I like to study Genealogy which is researching and putting together my family tree. I love to be out in the great outdoors doing either off-roading, camping, and especially hiking. I play on several softball teams during the week and I play on an adult baseball team on the weekend. I’m a HUGE San Francisco Giants fan.

About Me: I started off in the education field by working with elementary/jr. high aged children. A few years ago I was blessed to be a youth pastor having the pleasure of sharing my love and passion for Jesus to teenagers, until God sent me to SAVA. Being a teacher at SAVA is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve had. To invest in the lives of the students is something that I am passionate about, and I know that I was sent to SAVA for a reason. Encouraging the students, lending an ear to listen to, giving advice, investing in 1 on 1 support with homework, and seeing the students rise to their highest potential is priceless to me. I am passionate about seeing change in the students academically as well as each individual’s personal growth in life.
